Teenagers Social Media Ban is a Digital ID Trojan Horse

Teenagers Social Media Ban

The Australian government scheme to impose a Teenagers Social Media Ban would force all Australians to use a Government controlled Digital ID to log on to X and other social media.

Former Australian MP, Craig Kelly explains why:

The Australian Government scheme to ban teenagers from social media along with the Misinformation & Disinformation Bill poses a huge threat to freedom of expression, the cornerstone of democracy.

Misinformation Bill Threatens Free Speech

The Victorian Bar’s submission to the Law Council of Australia and subsequent Law Council submission warned that opinions, claims, commentary and invective are not factual claims capable of verification, so do not constitute information. Therefore they can not constitute misinformation and should not be included in the definition of misinformation.

And yet the bill’s Explanatory Memorandum explicitly encompasses opinions, claims and invective.

The idea that opinions, claims, commentary and invective can constitute misinformation, is one of the most disturbing aspects of the Misinformation Bill.
